Next week is the funeral service for a WW2 veteran, Major Peter Lamb, (98).
He was part of the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers, now amalgamated into the Royal Fusiliers.
His wartime military record was one of exceeding bravery.
One of the youngest majors in the British Army, he went ashore on the beaches on D-Day and played a pivotal role in the liberation of France.
His efforts were so heroic that he was awarded the Légion d’honneur, the highest order of merit in France.
He was highly popular with his men, often going above and beyond to ensure their welfare.
He will be remembered for his service and for the role he played in ensuring that we are able to enjoy freedom today.
The funeral is being held at Grantham Crematorium on Wednesday, 19th February 2020 at 11.30am.
Serving members and veterans of the Royal Warwicks, or the Royal Fusiliers, or if you just believe that acknowledgement and remembrance is important, please share far and wide.
Donations for Blind Veterans UK may be given on the day or forwarded to Robert Holland Funeral Services.
