Update 11.23am, 13 March
Police have made two further arrests in connection with this incident.
Two 16-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday 12 March. They have been interviewed and have been released on police bail while investigations continue. We would ask that people do not speculate about this online.
We continue to appeal for witnesses and footage to help our investigation.
If you can help, you can submit information and footage through the dedicated Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP), or call 101 quoting incident number 205 of 16 February. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers-uk.org online or call 0800 555 111 anonymously.
Update 4.39pm, 12 march
Following further enquiries we are expanding the timeframe we wish to gather information to between 8 February and 16 February.
Adam lived in Tamer Road, Sleaford, which is where he was sadly found dead on 16 February. He regularly visited the Riverside pharmacy, and commuted by foot, so we’d be interested in hearing from drivers who were in that area at any point between 5.30pm on 8 February and 2.15pm on 16 February.
We are also particular keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Tamer Road area between 11pm on 11 February into just after midnight on 12 February.
If you can help, you can submit information and footage through the dedicated Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP), or call 101 quoting incident number 205 of 16 February. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers-uk.org online or call 0800 555 111 anonymously.
Update 6.22pm, 8 March
The 34-year-old man has been released on police bail while inquiries are ongoing.
Update 2.40pm, 8 March
We are continuing our investigation today into the death of Adam Bailey, and we are sharing a new image of him believed to have been taken on 11 February to aid our appeal.
He is seen to be in a dishevelled state, and at this stage we are keeping an open mind about the cause of his appearance and would ask that people do not speculate online.
We are very keen to see speak with anyone who may have had contact with Adam in the days leading up to his death, or may have witnessed him in contact with other people in or around Sleaford, or at his flat or another property, between 12 noon on 11 February and 2.15pm on 16 February.
We are particularly keen to view any video footage which may show Mr Bailey interacting with other people in the days prior to his death. This includes any dashcam footage which local commuters may have captured, videos filmed on mobile phones or circulating on social media, or CCTV or doorbell footage from the local community.
Another line of enquiry we are exploring is around any people who may have visited his flat before his death, and we would ask that if you have any information which may be able to help that line of enquiry, to please come forward.
You can now send information through our dedicated Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) under Operation Lace.
The portal allows anyone with information and media content such as videos pertaining to the investigation to submit them directly to the team.
Detective Inspector Andrew McWatt, Senior Investigating Officer, said: “We are keeping an open mind about the circumstances, but we believe there may be people who will have witnessed something, or have information about Mr Bailey’s death or his interactions with others before he died, which might help our ongoing investigation who we have not yet spoken with.
“It might be that you don’t realise that what you saw or heard is important; we’d ask that you think back, or view mobile phone or dashcam footage, or social media where you may have seen something posted, and get in touch with anything that might be relevant and allow us to decide.
“Any piece of information can prove crucial in an investigation, and we’d rather have as much information as possible than miss a key detail, no matter how small. I realise that investigations of this nature can be concerning for the local community to hear about. Thankfully they are not common for the local area, but we are still taking this very seriously.”
One person arrested in connection with the incident remains in police custody.
