
Nurses from the Macmillan team at Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS
Trust (LCHS) have received prestigious Cavell Star Awards.
Abi Alexander and Rosie Royce were surprised by their colleagues, as neither knew
they had even been nominated.
Cavell Star Awards is a national programme that celebrates the dedication of nurses,
midwives, nursing associates and healthcare assistants and recognises the care
they provide to patients, families, and colleagues.
Natalie Herring, a Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist at LCHS nominated Rosie and
Abi on behalf of the wider Macmillan team. They were put forward for supporting
Natalie during her studies and for their leadership, compassion and dedication.
Abi, the Macmillan Clinical Team Lead said: “I’m not often left speechless, but
receiving this Cavell Star left me speechless! I was very touched that the team
nominated me.
“I couldn’t do my job without my amazing colleagues, so I feel this is a shared star for
the whole team. It’s an honour to lead such an amazing group of clinicians.”
Abi received her award for her commitment to her colleagues, being there for them
always and providing the best leadership possible through compassion and
excellence.
Rosie, another Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist said: “To be recognised by the
team feels so special and I will enjoy my memory of receiving the award many times
over. It makes everything feel worthwhile.”
Rosie was awarded the Cavell Star for her dedication to her colleagues, ensuring
they are always supported and listened to and striving to be the best teammate.
Cavell Nurses’ Trust is the charity supporting UK nurses, midwives and healthcare
assistants, both working and retired, when they’re suffering a personal or financial
crisis, often due to illness, disability, domestic abuse and rising living costs. The
award scheme was launched in 2018. Each Cavell Star Award winner receives a
remarkable medal, presentation case and pin badge.
