The handing over of an engraved trowel marked the completion of a major housing programme in South Kesteven which saw 13 new homes built this year.
Representatives from Woodhead Construction joined senior officers and councillors at the event in the council’s chamber, marking the completion of three projects carried out by the company in partnership with South Kesteven District Council.
Leader of the council, Coun Linda Neal, who accepted the trowel on behalf of the authority said: “All of the completed sites look fantastic and are a welcome increase in the housing resource available to the council and our tenants.
“We are thrilled with the work carried out by Woodhead.
“This is a much needed addition to our housing stock.
“These properties are particularly vital as they are of a smaller size than the bulk of our properties to help us to meet current legislation and the needs of our residents.”
The completed projects include new properties on Sandon Road and Thames Road in Grantham and Glen Crescent in Stamford.
Michael Broadhurst, Project Co-ordinator for Woodhead Living, said: “This project was procured through the empa Minor Works Framework and it has been a privilege for Woodhead to be part of such a fantastic social housing scheme in South Kesteven, the first new homes in the area for a decade.”
In addition, properties have been built on East Avenue by Lindum Group.
High energy performance in all building projects is a key factor, providing affordable warmth for residents, and all should meet ‘Lifetime Homes’ standards; suitable for tenants of all ages and with ease of access for those with a disability or requiring wheelchair access.
