Three Lincolnshire based artists (from Lincoln and Grantham) invite the
public along to an exhibition that’s really Wild! in more than one sense
of the word.
Fiona Hodges, Liz McLelland and Lisa Tank will be taking over the Sam
Scorer Gallery, Lincoln, for a two week exploration of colour, form and
expression that features striking animal sculptures, stunning abstract
landscapes and quirky human/cat hybrid sculptures inspired by popular
culture.
Fiona Hodges: Came to art later in life after a career in Human
Resources. Attended the University of Lincoln (BA(Hons) in Fine Art
2009). Fiona’s fascination with celebrity culture, combined with her use
of humour, sense of the absurd and the internet’s favourite animal, the
cat, led to the creation of The Cat Gang. Sculptures that sometime pay
homage to much loved figures from popular culture and sometimes pokes at
more controversial figures with just a hint of satire.
Liz McLelland: A mainly self-taught artist who has single-mindedly
sought to build upon her foundation year (1993) at Lincoln Art College
with many courses that have enabled her to pick up new artistic
techniques and skills whilst working full-time for the Woodland Trust.
This, combined with her love of animals, has enabled her to produce a
body of work that includes sympathetic animal portraiture, striking
murals and hauntingly lifelike ceramic animal sculptures.
Lisa Tank: Studied art in the mid 1980’s at Lincoln Art College and went
on to study ceramics in Cornwall. She returned to Lincolnshire and went
into industry but always maintained an interest in creating art. This
has been bolstered by attending various art classes and field trips to
Northumberland, North Yorkshire, the Peak District and Lincolnshire.
This has resulted in Lisa’s focus on bold, vibrant, expressive
landscapes and particularly loves working ‘en plein air’.
So, if you’re in need of inspiration, entertainment or amusement then
this eclectic show is just what the doctor ordered.
The Wild! Exhibition will start on the 14th of September 2021 and finish
on the 26th of September 2021.
The Sam Scorer Gallery is run by the Gallery Arts Trust – a
passionate, volunteer collective – who are dedicated to creating and
maintaining an accessible and contemporary facility in which local
artists are able to exhibit their work at 5 Drury Lane, Lincoln, LN1 3BN.
