The King is dead – God Save the Queen

MORE youngsters gather to hear the ‘King is Dead Proclamation by the Mayor, Ald William Goodliff in February 1952. Behind the Grange building was seed merchants Sharpe’s, later to become a pub. Marsden and Pearks were both provisions stores, the forerunners of supermarkets
