Switch Together is a partnership between Lincolnshire County Council and domestic solar supplier iChoosr. It’s designed to help private households buy solar technology at a competitive price without having to navigate the market alone. Thousands of people have already registered, and there’s no commitment needed just to see what’s available for your home.
The idea behind Switch Together is simple. Households across the county register, their locations are pooled together, and iChoosr uses that collective interest to negotiate prices for the necessary kit. By bringing people together, the scheme uses group buying power to secure better rates from trusted solar panel providers. It takes the guesswork out of trying to find a decent solar deal on your own and gives residents a clearer, more confident route into renewable energy.
The scheme gives homeowners the chance to invest in solar panels and battery storage, with optional EV charge points. There’s also the option of retrofit battery storage for anyone who already has solar panels and wants to make better use of the energy they generate.
How it works
It’s a straightforward process to get involved in Switch Together.
- Register for free online, There’s no obligation, and the more people who register, the better the deal for each household.
- Approved solar installers then bid for the work in a reverse auction. The most competitive offer wins.
- You’ll receive a personal outline of what’s on offer based on your registration details, including costs and specifics of your installation.
- You decide. There’s a four-week period where you can accept the recommendation or walk away. No obligation either way.
The scheme also covers battery storage to save unused energy generated by your panels, meaning you can use that energy any time of day or night. There’s even the possibility of earning money from unused solar power by exporting it back to the grid.

“Buying solar privately can be a bit of a maze, but this scheme makes it much more straightforward. You get a clear proposal, good quality systems and competitive prices, and you’re free to walk away if it’s not for you.
“We’re supporting Switch Together because it gives Lincolnshire homeowners a simple, reliable way to explore solar.”
