Snacks from Refectory given away in act of kindness
Grantham College had a surprise delivery of sandwiches, paninis and snacks delivered to Grantham College’s Refectory. As they weren’t needed, they have now been donated to a foodbank.
The food was brought to Grantham Foodbank, who said they intended to distribute it among attendees of a forthcoming church event.
HR Advisor Kirsty McGauley presented the food to members of the organisation on Wednesday.
Grantham College regularly collects food for the foodbank. To donate towards the brilliant cause, please place items in the box near reception.
Grantham Foodbank is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and can be found on Greyfriars in the town centre.
The Thinker says
Food banks and the volunteers are to be praised for they are the only help some poor unfortunate people receive in this “ Grab all me first society” we now live in.
My comments are aimed squarely and directly at the Government and it’s policy of austerity, we see and continue to witness people having to go to food banks to survive because they aren’t paid enough, or on zero hours contracts, or the rent is so astronomically high it beggars belief. I am sure the landlords don’t give a toss as long as the rent rolls in, and if they don’t pay “kick them out and get some other mug in to pay the rent” The greed factor looms large with these types.
Which ever way you see it if someone is working full time and trying to makes ends meet and still have to visit a food bank to feed themselves and the kids just to survive then something is bloody well wrong, and instead of well paid, well fed, secure politicians spouting platitudes about how good things are going to be they want to see how some poor souls are living on a day to day basis. What a bloody society we have become.
