Community news – May 2020 | ||
Dear Friends I hope you are keeping well both mentally and physically at this time. St Luke’s for Clergy have produced some information on dealing with the lock-down, recognising signs of stress and trauma and how, just by taking a few moments of time, we can ease our stress. The information can be found here. Also, this week the Church of England have launched a new initiative ‘Daily Hope’ – a free national phone line aimed particularly at the over 75s who don’t have access to the internet. It is available 24 hours a day on 0800 804 8044. Callers are able to choose from a range of options, including daily prayer, a recording of the Church of England’s weekly national online service, and favourite hymns. Please pass on the details to anyone you think would be interested. Attached here for you is this week’s Community news, St John’s pew sheet, Sunday’s order of service and Church@Home. Fr Stuart, rector@stwulframs.com, has been rummaging around and found a metal candlestand. It is the last remaining candlestand from the Gilbert Scott reordering and is in need of some tlc. If anyone is interested in refurbishing this item, please contact him directly. Images of the candlestand can be found here. One of our congregation has been busy making non-medical face masks and wanted to share the pattern with you in case you would like to do the same. The instructions on how to make the masks can be found here. Christian Aid week will be running from 10-16 May. This year St Wulfram’s and St John’s, Manthorpe are teaming together to raise funds. As we are not able to distribute the giving envelopes as normal an online JustGiving page has been set up by Jo Counsell, Chair of St Wulfram’s Mission and Social Responsibility PCC Sub-Group. Please click the link here to make your donation. Please give generously. Next Friday, 8 May at 12:00noon we will be starting another Zoom community meeting for ‘Hymns with Tim’. More details will be sent out nearer the time, including the words for the hymns to be sung. If you would like to join in you will need, if you have already, to sign up to Zoom. Simply enter https://zoom.us/signup on your web browser to go to the Zoom website so sign up. A reminder that if your weekly offering is usually given via the offering plate, or if you feel you can give a little more, would you please consider making a donation online? Please go to stwulframs.org.uk/giving. Every penny counts and the gift you give really does make a difference. With best wishes Elaine |
