Well it’s the new religion, if you can’t do anything else open up a Barbershop or a Vape shop or one of those very dodgy looking phone repair come computer game outlets, or even a car wash, you know the ones with the flashing blue and red signs saying open. We used to have standards now we have masses of tat.
Close the lot down along with all the betting shops, most of the fast junk food outlets and all the pop up firework shops that will suddenly appear like a rash then as equally fast vanish into the mist.
A right spoilsport ain’t I??

There’s only one barber in Grantham and that’s John Kinersley on Wharf Rd. apologies if I spelt his surname wrong. Started going to him with my dad aged about 5, now just passed the 60 mark, and the last time I was in the town he was still open for business. Must hold a record for the town. Something for the weekend sir?

You have brought back a memory or two.
John Kinnersley on Wharf Road, and also the one that was just up from the Blue Bull in Wide Westgate, went there for years then if I’m not mistaken moved over the other side of the road.
Going into a barbers was for many as well as getting your hair cut a chance to have a moan or talk about football or other sport when you were in the chair, You could see jars of Brilcream, Tru-Gel and Vitalis, along with that stick that you rubbed on your face if you had cut yourself shaving and as you say at the end “Something for the weekend sir?” I haven’t heard that for years.
