Skydivers have jumped into the University of Nottingham campus to put on a display for new students.
Seven parachutists from Skydive Langar jumped from 5,000 feet and landed onto the Downs on Monday afternoon. The team was led by Kayleigh Garbett, an ex-Uni of Notts alumni who is now the Operations Manager at the skydiving centre.
Spectators were treated to smoke displays and a ‘canopy formation’, which included three parachutes flying in close proximity to form shapes by holding onto one another.
Jodie-Leigh Foster, who also attended the University of Nottingham, carried a large flag which flew behind her as she descended to the ground.
Speaking of the skydive, Garbett said: “It was a real honour to lead the skydiving team into a jump onto my old uni campus and a pleasure to see so many Notts Uni students coming out to welcome us and learn more about skydiving.”
Maddie Trask is a current University of Nottingham student and president of the skydiving club. She said:
“We’re very grateful to the Skydive Langar team for coming to jump in for us today. When I’m not at uni, the drop zone is my favourite place to hang out and I’ve met so many amazing people and had so many incredible experiences since I started skydiving. I hope the display inspires other uni students to give it a go and, if skydiving isn’t for them, at least to join in with the many clubs and societies we have here and just to get involved!”
The display is one of many to have taken place this year around Nottinghamshire and beyond by the Skydive Langar team. Skydive Langar is located at Langar Airfield in Nottinghamshire and is the UK’s biggest and busiest skydiving centre.
