A team of skydivers have jumped into the FIA Karting World Championships at PF International, the UK’s largest outdoor go karting circuit.
The skydivers, who took off from their home centre of Skydive Langar in Nottinghamshire, travelled the short distance to Brandon, near Grantham, in a Cessna 206 aircraft, jumping out at 5,000 feet and landing on the track itself.
They wore coloured vapour canisters which created an impressive display for the crowds who gathered to welcome the team ahead of the start of the day’s racing, which ended in Britain’s Ethan Jeff-Hall taking the gold medal in the open category and Kenzo Craigie in the junior.
Speaking of the display jump, skydive team leader and owner at Skydive Langar Josh Carratt, said:
“It was a really fun display and we’re very proud to have been part of such a prestigious sporting event. It’s always interesting jumping into a new location and this one was particularly special because it’s quite a tight landing area, meaning we needed to be very precise in our parachute flight. We’re very grateful to everyone who came out to watch and cheer us on.”
The skydive display team has travelled to various locations since it formed in 1977, including a cricket pitch in Skegness, a rugby match in Leeds and a number of education facilities and schools where they play a role in teaching children about flight.
They are based at Skydive Langar, which offers tandem skydive experiences, skydiving courses to learn to skydive and skydiving events for licensed skydivers. Find out more at www.skydivelangar.co.uk.
