South Kesteven District Council is in the running for two prestigious national awards.
The Local Government Chronicle Awards 2025 recognise the best of local government and celebrate the achievements of councils across the country.
SKDC’s Head of HR and Organisational Development, Fran Beckitt, has been shortlisted for the Rising Star accolade, while East Midlands Building Consultancy has made it through in the medium-sized Team Of The Year category.
The Leader of SKDC, Cllr Ashley Baxter, said: “I am proud that we have received this recognition from the wider local government community. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone who works here.
“The most important asset for any organisation is its staff – and making the most of that asset is a skill in itself.
“Fran Beckitt consistently demonstrates exceptional leadership, striving for improvements for colleagues across every service area and, therefore, the whole Council.
“She plays a leading role in ensuring SKDC is a great place to work with fantastic career development opportunities.”
East Midlands Building Consultancy (EMBC) is a successful Building Control partnership between South Kesteven District, Newark and Sherwood District and Rushcliffe Borough Councils.
Managed by SKDC on behalf of the partners, it is responsible for delivering building control functions across all three districts.
Cllr Baxter said: “EMBC is a vibrant and supportive team that consistently receives positive feedback from clients.
“While operating in a competitive field, the mutual support, training, mentoring and nurturing within the team, combined with a focus on excellent customer service, has enabled it to excel.”
