The Chairman of South Kesteven District Council, Cllr Jacky Smith, raised a flag at its civic offices to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Holocaust Memorial Day 2020 marked the 75th anniversary of the liberation of concentration and extermination camps at Auschwitz.
It is designated as a day of remembrance for the millions killed through persecution during the Holocaust and remembers those who died in atrocities during conflicts in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, Darfur and others.
Cllr Smith said: “It is so important that we stand together to remember the horrors of the past.
“Raising this flag gives a poignant focus for our thoughts on this anniversary. If we take time to reflect on atrocities from the Second World War and conflicts since then, this will help us to ensure that they never happen again.”
Leader of the Council, Cllr Kelham Cooke added: “On the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, may we never forget the appalling stain on humanity the Holocaust and anti-semitism was, and still is.”
