Louise Horsfall says
I am a local resident of Grantham and I am deeply concerned with the current chaos due to the many simultaneous roadworks happening in our town. The roads are gridlocked and causing delays already.
The issue is like a ticking time bomb set to explode once schools reopen.
To LCC highways Paul Rusted, Karen Cassar, Sam Edwards and of course Cllr Richard Davies, please reconsider this situation. It is necessary to stagger the roadworks or at least organize them in such a way that would not cause extensive disruption to the town’s mobility.
Roadworks are inevitable and often necessary to maintain and upgrade our infrastructures. However, the Department of Transport asserts that roadwork scheduling should minimize inconvenience (Institute of Highway Engineers, 2016). So far, this is not the case in Grantham.
Our collective action can prevent this situation from deteriorating into an unmitigated disaster. Let’s enlighten our policy makers on the imminent chaos that threatens to engulf our town.
Please sign this petition to urge our local representatives to urgently reconsider the simultaneous scheduling of roadworks in Grantham and the High Dyke.
