Festive families are being advised on the best places around the home to hide Christmas presents from their children and partners.
Interior experts at Online-Bedrooms.co.uk have shared seven hiding spots that children are unlikely to look in.
As Christmas approaches, many parents will be wrapping up gifts for their little ones but hiding gifts around the home can be difficult with many children on the hunt for their presents throughout the festive season.
Making use of loft space and empty suitcases are just some of the places kids will be unlikely to look in.
Common hiding spots like under the bed and in the wardrobe should be avoided at all costs.
Cat Wiltshire from Online-Bedrooms said: “Christmas is just around the corner, and so many of us will once again be looking for the perfect hiding spots around the house to stash gifts we’ve bought for our kids and other family members.
“Children are often eager to uncover their presents early, so choosing a secure hiding place is key to upholding the Christmas surprise.
“Try to store the gifts in places your children rarely explore, and steer clear of common spots like under the bed or at the back of the wardrobe.
“Consider tucking presents away in suitcases you aren’t using, and for added security, you can lock them.
“The attic is another excellent option, especially if it’s an area that’s not easily accessible to the kids without your help.”
Seven places to hide presents this Christmas:
- The loft
Although it may be a bit more hassle, the loft is one place you can be sure your kids won’t get to without you. This is a great hiding spot for bigger toys and gifts such as bikes and doll houses.
- Suitcases
It’s unlikely that your kids will go searching through suitcases to find their presents so why not make use of them if they’re taking up space. For extra security pop a lock on there and hide the key!
- The garage
If your children don’t have access to your garage, then it can make for a great spot to hide presents.
- Garden shed
If weather permits, and items are wrapped for protection, hiding gifts here can keep them out of immediate reach and view.
- A neighbour’s house
Perhaps you have trustworthy neighbours without kids or they’ve now grown up and moved out. If so, kindly ask if you can store the odd gift in their garage or spare room.
- With the bedding
If you store all of your bed sheets in one cupboard or drawer, it could be the perfect hiding spot as kids wouldn’t think to look there. Bury the presents among the sheets to make them harder to find.
- Back of the wardrobe
The back of the wardrobe can work for hiding presents, but it’s usually one of the first places children think to look! So, if you use the wardrobes, consider tucking items inside bags or boxes that blend in, such as old shopping bags or clothing storage bins.
