Red Homes Care Community is delighted to announce the appointment of two experienced
and compassionate members of staff as part of its commitment to providing outstanding
quality of life for all residents.
Rita Walton, previously Head Nurse at Red Rose, has been appointed as the new Group
Head of Nursing, and Mirela Banu has stepped into the role of Clinical Lead. Both bring
dedication, warmth, and exceptional expertise to their new roles.
As Head of Governance, Rita will work across both Red Rose and Red Court care homes,
overseeing all nursing residents and supporting nursing staff at both locations to ensure the
highest levels of care and safety.
Rita has been a nurse for almost 44 years, and prior to working for Red Homes, was a
senior staff nurse at Newark hospital for two decades. Back in the nineties, she trained as a
General Nurse while working night shifts at Red Rose, and now she says that she has “come
home” to Red Rose.
“I want to have a lasting and positive impact on the care and organisation both at Red Rose
and Red Court,” Rita said. “I want to be approachable and available in times of need, and for
the staff, residents, families and friends, and any members of the multi-disciplinary team to
know who I am and how I can help.”
In her new role as Clinical Lead, Mirela Banu (above) will focus on the provision of excellent quality
care to people living in the care home community, ensuring all clinical governance targets
are met and supporting staff through her leadership. “My aim is to make sure the home is the
best it can be,” she said. “I want to make sure the home environment is positive for
everyone, that I am a role model to others, and that we are delivering the best care we can
to our residents and their families.”
These roles are vital to Red Homes Care Community’s continued mission to provide
outstanding care in a supportive, nurturing and welcoming environment.
Roger Daniel, CEO of Red Homes, said, “I am delighted at the appointment of Rita and
Mirela, two exceptional new team members. Where Rita will continue to bring her valuable
experience and understanding of the residents’ needs to this important role, Mirela brings a
fresh perspective and dedication that will enhance the services we provide.
Their skills and compassionate approaches make them integral to our commitment to providing the best
care possible to our residents.”
While she may have impressive qualifications and an exemplary career history, for Rita, at
the heart of her job is the people.
“I absolutely love my new job. I love building rapport with
new people, and communicate every week with residents and their families and friends,” she
said. “When I eventually retire, I hope to leave behind a legacy of love.”
