Recognising the valuable work of police staff

March 10, 2024 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

From ICT work, to communication with the public, to managing our people, to ensuring that the force’s finance systems, estate and fleet are running smoothly, to preparing our operational plans and planning for civil emergencies –  we’re celebrating some of the unsung heroes of policing.

This week sees forces across the UK come together to honour the contribution made by police staff.

Launched by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), with support from the College of Policing, the first ever Police Staff Week of Celebration and Recognition hopes to shine a spotlight on the individuals who play an important role within Lincolnshire Police.

As part of the week, forces will be celebrating the contribution made by those working across all areas of policing. It is also hoped the recognition will encourage other professionals to consider a future in policing.

DCC Julia Debenham has welcomed the week of celebration and praised the vital work of police staff.

“The role that staff play in Lincolnshire Police cannot be underestimated. It often goes unrecognised, and we hope to shine a spotlight on their work as part of this week,” she said.

“Police staff are often the first people the public talk to when they contact us, they are involved in investigations, safeguarding, crime analysis, as well as informing and educating our communities.

“Police staff are also crucial in ensuring we have the right people in the right place, that we are recruiting and developing people across the force, whilst looking after their welfare needs as well.  They are professionals in their own right and the force could not operate effectively without them.

“We will be publicising some case studies of our police staff during the week, based on nominations that have been submitted by their colleagues, but this is by no means an exhaustive list and there are many more people in force who play a vital role.

“This week is all about recognising the hard work, professionalism, dedication, expertise, and the unique role that police staff play in delivering policing in Lincolnshire.

“I’d personally like to thank each and every staff member and volunteer for the huge role they play.”

Police will be sharing the stories of staff members on their channels, all week.
