The Teaspoon Tea Company in Grantham has joined a growing number of businesses to sign up to South Kesteven District Council’s Armed Forces Discount Card.
Cllr Dean Ward, SKDC’s Armed Forces Officer, thanked owner Lance Merryweather for Teaspoon’s support in offering a variety of discounts in their High Street premises.
Formerly with the RAF Regiment, Cllr Ward was one of the first to sign up for a card aimed at helping all service personnel and their families, including reservists, veterans and widows or widowers.
Members of the services community can now apply for a card, while more retailers and businesses are being urged to join the scheme with discounts and special offers.
Tea specialists, The Teaspoon Tea Company, is one of a number of business to have subscribed.
“This is a great way to show how much we value the Armed Forces and those who live locally and look forward to welcoming them to the Teaspoon Tea Company,” said Lance Merryweather.
Others signed up to offer discounts include householder services from Harrowby Heating and Hardware Supplies and KBR Gas Supplies.
Empire Clothing, Kays of Grantham, Street Cars, Grantham Taxis and Robert Holland Funeral Directors are also supporting the scheme, offering a range of different discounts, along with The Biltong Farm and The Apple Tap.
Cllr Kelham Cooke, Leader of South Kesteven District Council, has championed the scheme since its launch.
“I am delighted to see the range of businesses now coming on board with all manner of different discounts for Armed Forces personnel,” he said. “It shows our shared appreciation of what the military community contributes and opens up a significant new market for them with members of the services community.
“We want to encourage serving personnel and veterans to support local businesses and spend time in our towns.”
