Proud to be a Fostering Friendly council!

LCC staff that foster children can look forward to additional support to help them with their caring duties.

The council has signed up to a Fostering Friendly initiative, which is designed to help employers recognise and support staff looking after foster children.

Fostering requires a high level of commitment, and, in light of this, the council is now offering the carers among its staff greater flexibility and additional time off to help them better balance work with being a great foster carer for Lincolnshire County Council.

Cllr Mrs Patricia Bradwell, Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “Foster carers play a vital role, and it’s important that employers give them the support they need.

“We feel it’s best to lead by example, and hope we’ll inspire other organisations to join our Fostering Friendly ethos.

“In Lincolnshire there is a real and urgent need for people to come forward for fostering, particularly to look after children who need a long-term foster family.

“Being a foster carer can be challenging, but it’s also hugely rewarding. Long-term foster carers often speak of a sense of pride in seeing the child develop and flourish.

“And, in terms of practicalities, there is a fostering allowance as well as additional support and training for those who provide a home for a child in need.
