A blockade is going strong and lorries have been turned away from Goldholme Quarry at Ancaster, due to demonstrators.
The limestone quarry tprovides materialsto big brands, including Travis Perkins and Jewson.
The protest is being stages by Shut Down T&S Rabbits
Shut Down T&S Rabbits is a grassroots campaign group whose objectives are “to shut down Phil Kerry’s abhorrent business, T&S Rabbits. To ensure all the imprisoned rabbits are released to good homes. To make certain that Phil ends his use of rabbits for profit and to deter any future rabbit breeders from setting up similar exploitative businesses.”
The group have previously staged protests in Oakham Market Place, holding banners and handing out flyers to those interested.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We are on scene at Goldholme Stone quarry in Sleaford Road, Ancaster following reports of a protest by animal rights activists.
“The protesters are reported to have arrived at the location at 4.35am this morning, and are currently behaving in a peaceful manner.
“We have a positive obligation to facilitate peaceful protest and officers will remain on the scene until the protest has concluded.”
