Following our successful open course in June, we are now offering individual places on ASIST training in September.
This is a rare opportunity since we mostly provide full course packages
to clients such as NHS organisations, Local Authorities, Schools and
Colleges, Not for profit organisations, Prisons etc. Where you are a
self-employed practitioner, part of a small organisation and simply part
of an organisation that wants to train just a few key people, it is
often hard to find courses offering individual places.
The course will run from 9am- 4.30pm on 17th and 18th September in
central Lincoln. Lincoln is a lovely place to visit and very accessible
from London, the Midlands and the North of England. We have had people
come further than that to attend. There are plenty of inexpensive hotels
for those coming from further afield.
The
course price is £165 per person ( Course valued at £320+ per head). If
you have concerns about the cost, there are many sources of small grants
for training, see https://www.grantsonline.org.uk/
You
can apply through eventbrite (booking fee charged but payment by card
accepted) or directly with me paying by cheque or bank transfer
following invoicing. Please see full details below, including booking
terms and conditions:
More information on trainings:
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is the world’s most evidence based, evaluated and widely taught training in how to recognise and keep safe persons with current thoughts of suicide. It is relevant to all adults, regardless of their background or job role, but could be seen as essential for everyone working with people at times of stress and difficulty. The training is suitable for all settings and can be integrated into wider training, including university courses ( Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology), emergency services, mental health, youth work, substance misuse, homelessness, relationship breakdown and/or abuse. It can be targeted at vulnerable groups such as young males, those serving in or leaving the armed forces, GRT community, migrants, or high risk occupations such as construction workers, vets, and health workers. Equally, it can be about supporting your family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues.
We also offer safeTALK –
a half-day introduction to basic intervention for suicide. Ideally
those that attend safeTALK have access to ASIST trained caregivers to
refer people on to.
Finally,
our UNIQUE new offering is for PRIMARY CARE – a 1.5 – 2.5 hour bespoke
session for in-practice team training or CPD events aimed at Primary
Care Staff. SuicidePC outlines evidence
based best practice and resources available to help patients keep
themselves safe, acknowledging the time constraints of GP consultations
etc.
All our trainings include a certificate of completion outlining CPD hours, and a list of useful resources.
Details of all trainings are attached below
