Robert Dennis Pridmore (1928-2015)
BORN in Corby Glen, Dennis worked in the family taxi business for his first five years, with a break for National Service.
In 1954 he qualified as a teacher from Stoke Rochford College and joined the Boys’ Central School, as a PE and maths teacher.
He played local football in his youth and followed Leicester City.
But his big passion was for cricket and followed his home county Lincolnshire.
He played for Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir and Grantham CC. He also coached, umpired and scored for several teams.
For many years he played his ‘final’ season until finally hanging up his pads in 1987, aged 59.
But he continued his sporting life with a passion for indoor bowls, travelling across the country.
