Can you help with information relating to a wild gull being shot
On the 6 December a great black-backed gull was taken to an animal rescue centre with injuries having been found in the area of Metheringham Quarry, near Sleaford.
An x-ray confirmed that it had been shot and its body contained multiple pellets. The bird has suffered a broken wing and is struggling to stand; it is still alive but sadly it’s not doing so well.
DC Flint from our Rural Crime Action Team, said: “All wild birds are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is an offence to kill or injure them, interfere with nests, or remove chicks or eggs.
“Anyone found committing offences against wild birds in our county will be given our full attention and where there is sufficient evidence will be put before the courts.”
If you have any information that will help the investigation, please get in touch by emailing aaron.flint@lincs.police.uk, or alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org. Please put the reference number Lincs 24000730222 in the subject heading.
The care and x-ray costs are being met by the charity Wild Things Rescue.
