Mary Whittington says…
Hi all.
I went up to visit the talk/demo on the new housing proposed on the barracks site on the a52.
It is for outline planning permission for 3,000 houses.
The DIO is running it as a subdivision of MOD.
As such there appears nothing can be done except object to the outline itself.
It is a request for permission to submit further detailed plans.
Highly likely to go through, bearing in mind the Government’s demands that new houses must be built.
I reminded the assistant that we already have a large number of unsold houses Dysart Road and Barrowby Gate.
He said this scheme would be for 5/10 years time and the situation will have changed, and that much depends on what the Neighbourhood plan says, a Neighbourhood plan has to be considered by law in any development.
I am going to get a copy and find out.
Are there a few people who would join me in exploring our options on this, just a group chat, nothing formal but we could throw ideas around and get a consensus on what’s happening and what we can do.
We really need more info on how the area feels.
That would be a start. If you are willing just to chat over ideas, let me know and i will set out a few dates for a coffee session somewhere in town.
No pressure no cost no commitment.
