Pirate acrobats set sail for Belvoir Castle this May

April 27, 2026 Leave a Comment

Acrobats, jugglers and clowns are set to descend on the Vale of Belvoir this May, for three days of swashbuckling performances and workshops for the whole family to enjoy.

For three days only (23-25 May 2026), Boom Circus will return to Belvoir Retail Village for a brand-new pirate themed production featuring an extraordinary team of acrobats, jugglers and aerial athletes. Performing two shows each day at 11am and 2pm across the bank holiday weekend, the Boom Circus team will take visitors on a high-seas adventure, full of theatrical flair and perfectly timed comedy.

Alongside the performances there will be a whole host of family-friendly activities for visitors to take part in. A series of fun-filled circus workshops, led by the Boom Circus team will take place throughout the weekend in the Belvoir Retail Village. Perfect for kids and adults alike, these interactive workshops will get people juggling and spinning plates like a professional.

Maya Tenenbaum Jones, artiste coordinator at Boom Circus, said: “The new creation, ‘Pirates’ by Boom Circus is a medley of theatre, comedy and modern circus. We are delighted to return with our Big Top to the grounds of Belvoir Castle with an all new show packed full of breathtaking acrobatics, dazzling aerial and dangerously funny slapstick.

“We pride ourselves on providing that traditional circus experience with a modern twist, creating a story full of colourful characters who will have the whole family laughing. Come along to join Captain Bones and the motley crew on an adventure across the seas, where you’ll watch their troubles and triumphs, flips and tricks, and maybe even join them onstage!”

For the ultimate day out, families can continue the pirate-fun in a themed trail in the Adventure Playground or soak up the tranquillity of the Castle gardens. The Adventure Playground is inspired by the Castle and the stories of the family who lived there, with a giant timber castle, ship and towers perfect for fantasy-filled adventures. With multiple levels and areas to explore, the secret climbing wall and zip wire, there are hours of fun to be had.

Eleanor Melville, marketing manager at Belvoir Castle said, “We are so excited to welcome back Boom Circus after their incredible sell-out performances last year and can’t wait see what this year’s pirate show has in store. Last year’s circus skills workshops were incredibly popular, with people of all ages getting stick in.”

Open seven days a week, Belvoir Retail Village is a thriving shopping and dining hub, sitting at the foot of Belvoir Castle. The retail destination offers artisan shopping in the heart of the stunning Vale of Belvoir and celebrates local food and the best of country living. Restored from working estate buildings, it is home to the latest fashions and accessories from homewares, crafts and toys as well as a range of delicious produce from the Belvoir Estate available in the Farm Shop.

The Belvoir Retail Village is home to the Animal Park featuring a friendly family of calves, donkeys and goats, as well as a family-friendly petting barn. The Animal Park will open every day though out the May Half Term so that families have yet another fantastic reason to visit Belvoir Castle.

Standard tickets for the Boom Circus Pirates of the Big Top are £20 for adults, £12 for children (3 – 16 years) and under threes enter for free.
