George Robert Pacey was verger at St Wulfram’s Church for 16 years.
A bachelor, he lived with his sister, Miss S. E. Pacey, in Union Street, Grantham.
Mr Pacey was associated with the church since a boy, being a server, an officer the Church Lads’ Brigade, member of the church council, the Church of England Men’s Society, and a former bellringer.
Secretary the Lincoln Guild of Vergers, he was also chairman of the Grantham branch of Toc H which he joined in 1922, and received the local Toc H’s present lamp from the Duke Windsor, then Prince of Wales, at the Albert Hall, London, in 1924.

When Ruston and Hornsby’s band became Grantham Town band in 1936, Mr. Pacey was the first drum major, and the mace in use at the time was presented by him.
He collapsed and died one Friday morning as he was paying his weekly call to the alms houses close to the church.
