As part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of modern slavery, Lincolnshire Police, assisted by officers from neighbouring forces and the National Crime Agency, this morning (Monday 22nd September) executed warrants at five locations around Lincoln, and two elsewhere in the country.
As a result of these operations, seven people were arrested and will be questioned at different locations in Lincolnshire in connection with allegations of modern slavery.
Also as a result of the operation, nine people are being cared for by teams from Adult Care at Lincolnshire County Council with support from staff from the NHS. They are now in the process of being seen by medical professionals for health assessments. The primary aim of this part of the operation is to safeguard these people and to consider their needs and potential requirements for welfare and support, along with the needs of their families and the communities involved. When appropriate they will then be interviewed by Lincolnshire Police officers as witnesses.
Because proceedings are active we are not prepared to discuss any further details on the operation and investigation at this stage. When there are any developments we will announce them.
