To celebrate winning the title Church of the Year 2024, St James the Great in Aslackby will be
hosting an open day on Saturday November 23, with hot and cold drinks and nice things to eat!
From 10am til 4pm, the team that helped the church win this equivalent of the ‘BAFTAs’ will be
on hand to serve refreshments and explain more about the unique qualities of this largely 14 th
century church.
St James the Great had already won the Church and Community Volunteer Award at the
ceremony, which took place in the Chapter House at Lincoln Cathedral on October 22, and so
was in the running for the main prize. Over 200 churches from across the UK entered these
prestigious awards, making the win all the more special for this village of just over 100
dwellings.
The first dementia-friendly church in Lincolnshire, St James is a welcoming building – enter
its doors and you are immediately at peace with the world. Join us for a ‘Non-stop Coffee
Stop’ on November 23 and experience it for yourself! AslackbyVillage-
