Once upon a time we had one dustbin. Everything went in it.

t was collected once a week. As time passed that bin got wheels and was still collected once a week but we were careful about food waste and maybe had a pig bin.

More time passed and we had two bins, a black bin for non recyclable and a silver bin for recyclable stuff. Each was collected alternate weeks.

I moved house to a terraced home with no access to the back garden except through the front door and living room. Here we had bags instead of bins, a clear bag and a pink one. Fine, each bag again being collected alternate weeks. Roll on to now.

Purple bins issued but not to those households that could not store them. SO now we still have a clear bag for all recyclable items but because one collection day is now for purple bins our bags are only collected one day each month.

The black bag every two weeks.

This is progress?

Over the time between collections for our recyclables the bags stack up in our small back garden.
