Kate says…
Just interested in other opinions on this. Bought an expensive bottle of wine from M&S for Christmas dinner.
As we left the store, the alarm went off and we were waved through by the person standing by the self-service checkouts (we went through a checkout with the staff member on it) and we went on our way.
Bottle of wine was inside a box, which wasn’t sealed.
Found that the bottle still had the security tag on it and therefore, were unable to open it. Took bottle back to M&S and were told that if we wanted to make a complaint, a form had to be filled in and sent off.
I think, that if I were the manager of that particular store, I would have wanted to make sure that staff were up to scratch on procedures and would have probably offered the customer a voucher in lieu of fuel money, time wasted etc It’s something I would have done when working in retail.
Common courtesy, in my opinion!
