NEW FUNDING TOOLKIT TO SUPPORT LINCOLNSHIRE CHARITIES

August 18, 2020 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service and Voluntary Centre Services, in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council are set to launch a new training programme available free to community groups across Lincolnshire.

The Funding Readiness programme has been designed to give community and voluntary groups the tools they need to apply for funding and is focused on improving funding success rates for Lincolnshire’s voluntary sector.

Many organisations struggle with writing funding applications, but project planning and evidencing the need are also reasons for bids failing, so this free training takes organisations through the full process.
The programme consists of a series of online workshops and an informational Toolkit to support participants. Workshops include getting a project ready for funding, identifying funding sources, evidencing the need for the project, and writing a successful bid.

Angela Dobson, Senior Area Officer for Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service says that “attracting funding to support projects can be quite a challenge for community groups. The Funding Readiness programme has been designed in response to the needs of local organisations, to give them the tools to present the evidence which proves the value of their work and to successfully communicate it to funders.”

With this programme, we are also enlisting the help of ‘Funding Champions’. As Angela notes, “a ‘Funding Champion’ is somebody who has had experience of applying for funding and can share with participants in the programme some hints, tips and learning from both successful and unsuccessful applications. Whilst trialling the Funding Readiness workshops, sharing the learning from previous experience has proved invaluable. If you feel that you could help us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”

Interested applicants for the programme will be given an organisational ‘Health Check’ to complete, which will benchmark their training needs. Applicants can then complete the whole programme, or just parts that are needed to become funding ready.

Spaces for each programme are limited however with slots of only 8, we are expecting that we will have a good uptake for these workshops.
