The Rev Dr Nicholas Chamberlain was ordained and consecrated as Bishop of Grantham by the Archbishop of Canterbury at Southwark Cathedral, on Thursday.
The service was held on the Feast of St Hilda, Abbess of Whitby, and the significance of this saint and also St Hugh of Lincoln, who was remembered on the 17th of November, was underlined in the sermon given by The Very Reverend Michael Sadgrove (Dean of Durham, 2003-2015).
Bishop Nicholas is to be officially welcomed to the diocese at a special service to be held in the Cathedral on Sunday, 13th December at 5.30pm. Bishop Nicholas will preside and preach at the eucharist, and it is hoped that many people from across the diocese will come and share in this further special occasion. All clergy and readers are invited to robe for this service.
Refreshments will be served immediately after the service. Please notify Amy Tattersall in the Bishops’ Office of your intention to attend by either calling 01522 50 40 90 or send an email to bishops.diary@lincoln.anglican.org. Clergy and readers are also asked to let Amy know if they intend to robe (clergy: alb and purple stole).
