Work has begun to bring a new public multi-use hardcourt games area to Grantham’s Dysart Park.
The new facility is being installed at the South Kesteven District Council-owned park to replace a previous hard court at Wyndham Park, which is now home to new skate ramps.
It is being paid for by Government UKSPF money and SKDC funds together totalling around £36,000.
The 16x10m tarmac multi-use games area, complete with line markings for football and basketball, should be open before the end of March.

SKDC Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, Cllr Paul Stokes, who is also Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “We’re fortunate to be able to jointly fund this new games area for the people of Grantham and beyond.
“The site, at the heart of our Green Flag-rated park, would be open all hours for access and use by the public; it won’t be fenced or locked which means it will be available to all leisure users at a time to suit them.
“It is part of our programme of investment in park facilities that has also seen the refurbishment of Dysart Park tennis court, which are already open following improvements.”
The site is on part of the disused Bowling Green, located centrally in the park, just south of the Sports Pavillion and existing play area play area.
In addition to the grasslands and games area, Dysart Park, off Houghton Road, also has a traditional bandstand, well-equipped play areas, the tennis court, and a wildflower meadow. The meadowland was implemented as part of the Witham Slea Blue Green Corridor Project, working with local groups, the Council and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust transformed poor habitat into a diverse wildflower meadow.
The new skate park at the SKDC-owned Wyndham Park includes a flat bank, jump box, grind rails, half pipe and quarter pipe features following a successful bid to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Government money which is administered locally by SKDC.
