More police officers following recruitment success

Lincolnshire Police has 79 more officers following a successful recent recruitment campaign.

The recruits will now be put through their paces in training before becoming fully fledged members of the force.

Last summer the Government announced that 20,000 more police officers would be recruited across England and Wales over the next three years.  The resulting ‘Uplift’ Project was subsequently developed by Lincolnshire Police as part of its Horizons 2023 Programme which will see the force working to better serve the region’s communities.

Det Supt Pete Grayson, who heads the Horizons Programme, said: “This is of course great news and we remain on target to meet our Uplift target of recruiting and training 120 new student officers during the current year.

“Despite the challenges presented by COVID 19, the force has successfully adapted its recruitment and pre-employment processes. As a result whilst still complying with Public Health England guidelines we have been able to maintain the pace of our current recruitment drive, thereby ensuring that future planned cohorts of student officers are delivered on time.”

Making Lincolnshire an even safer place to live, work and visit were the key objectives set out by the Chief Constable, Bill Skelly, in the Distinctively Lincolnshire strategy.

The Horizons 2023 Programme and the Uplift Project sees Lincolnshire Police working towards that strategy and to a more efficient, effective and diverse workforce.
