After steadily reintroducing trains back into service from 3 December, Hull Trains is already adding new journeys to the timetable thanks to demand from passengers.
34 additional services will run by Hull Trains during the Christmas and New Year period to increase capacity and support social distancing onboard.
The extra trains will run on 19 December – 24 December and 4 – 8 January 2021, making it easier for passengers to plan their journey and travel during off-peak times.
Louise Cheeseman, managing director for Hull Trains, said:
“We recognise that not everyone wants to travel during this time, but for those who do, we are making it as easy as possible for people to travel safe.
“There has been a high demand for our services so we are bringing in extra trains on more popular travel days which are 19 to 24 December and between 4 and 8 January 2021.
“More trains mean more space for social distancing and we are asking passengers to do their bit by planning ahead and travelling during off-peak times.
“Other safety measures we have onboard includes clearly labelled seats to manage social distancing, extra cleaners on every journey and a live train tracker tool, which lets people check how busy the train is in real time.
“We have a robust action plan to make it as easy as possible for people to travel safely with us during the Christmas and New Year period. As part of our resumption plan, we continuously monitor demand from passengers and we can quickly bring in new services when there is an appetite.”
