Man who died in A52 collision is named

THE man who died following a road traffic collision in Threekingham on Tuesday (20th) has been named.

He is James Philip Carter (89) of Sleaford. An inquest will be opened and adjourned in due course.

The incident, which occurred at about 1pm on the A52 near to the Saltersway junction,  involved a white Mercedes van and a silver Nissan Micra driven by Mr Carter.

He was seriously injured in the collision and flown to QMC, Nottingham, by air ambulance for treatment.

He was later pronounced dead. The male driver of the Mercedes van was not seriously injured.

Billingborough, Donington and Sleaford fire crews used hydraulic rescue equipment and manpower to release an elderly male casualty from the car.Both vehicles were also made safe.

The road was closed at the scene just after the incident and was not reopened until 5.20pm.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who may have seen either vehicle before the collision or who witnessed it take place and has not already spoken to police at the scene.
