A number of train services in Lincolnshire have been delayed or altered because of damage to overhead electric wires. The damage, which was being repaired by Network Rail overnight, is located between Grantham and Newark North Gate and is causing issues for commuters on Tuesday, September 3.
The work is disrupting East Midlands Railway (EMR) trains on the Nottingham, Skegness and Peterborough, Lincoln, and Doncaster routes. According to EMR, trains running through the Grantham area are experiencing delays of up to 90 minutes as of 8.30am.
Some Nottingham and Skegness services have not called at Grantham station due to congestion outside the station. Services on the Peterborough, Lincoln and Doncaster route were warned of 60-minute delays and possible short notice alterations.
SAt 8.30am, the EMR website stated: “Our priority is be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 9.30am.”
To those who are affected by the issues, a spokesperson for EMR said: “You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 90 minutes. We are sorry for the delay to your journey today.
If you have been delayed by 15 minutes or more as a result of the damage to the overhead wires at Grantham this morning, you can claim for delay repay on the EMR website.
