Savvy fundraisers at a Grantham primary school are pulling out the stops to raise the profile of their work to help meet the cost of school equipment and events.
Friends of the School Association for Gonerby Foot Church of England Primary School has joined LotterySK to benefit from being a nominated good cause.
The lottery, run by South Kesteven District Council, offers players the chance to win £25,000, while 60p from every £1 ticket goes to local good causes, twice the amount given to charity by the National Lottery.
Friends of the School Association chair, Sarah Marshall, said: “We realised that LotterySK wasn’t only for registered charities so thought we would sign up and get some funds coming in.
“We’re spreading the word about joining LotterySK via two apps to let parents know and keep them in touch. I downloaded some tailored promotional material from the LotterySK website and I’ve also printed posters to display around school. This will help people realise they can help us while taking part in a lottery.”
Deputy Leader of South Kesteven District Council, Cllr Kelham Cooke said: “It’s great that so many good causes are making the most of the tools and advice provided through the LotterySK website to maximise the funds they raise. There are tips on recruiting customers, engaging with the wider community to win their support, guides on producing leaflets, and help with marketing your good cause by email and adding links to community websites.
“I know we have a lot of generous supporters for some very deserving causes right across South Kesteven.”
Other recent sign-ups to LotterySK include Hougham and Marston Village Hall, Bourne Town Bowls Club and Willoughby School.
Tickets can be bought at lotterysk.co.uk, where charities and good causes can register to take part.
