Good heavens above, last time I saw a “ British Rail” coupling was on a Scamell Scarab, which was at Bulmers in Taunton, they had three in their transport museum notable thing about the Scarab was you didn’t have to get out of the cab to couple up, as the brakes were rod type and the light coupling was contactable brass pin.
The little Bedford artics had the same kind of set up, except they used a palm coupling for the brakes. The big problem was when you uncoupled and the landing wheels came down on old trailers they wouldn’t lock up properly and the trailer would be sat on its knees, then it was swearing, sweating and handballing……
That old bugger called Greeves will remember all of this I’m sure, com’on boy lets hear from you.
Wot, no snow? In Jan’ ’63?
Doodlydo,
Have a look in the first photo, the corner of the pan tile roof of the drivers rest room, I think there is a little bit of the white stuff.
Mind you humping 12 tons off a trailer is enough to keep anybody warm.
@Manthinker! nora scooby doo mate! lots of love?
