Westgate Gallery, an independent shop in Grantham, has once again been targeted by shoplifters, with a number of Jellycat plush toys stolen from the shelves. The theft occurred while the owner, Kirsty, was assisting a partially sighted customer, the only time she was away from the shop floor.

The incident has been reported to the police and Westgate Gallery have asked their social media followers to be vigilant, particularly for any stolen items being resold on platforms like eBay and Vinted.
“As a small business, theft like this has a real impact,” Kirsty said. “Unlike larger stores, we don’t have big loss margins, every sale counts.”
She encourages people to support local businesses by shopping with them, even for small items. “If you’d like to help come down and buy something, even if it’s a paintbrush, a card or a keyring. It is literally the best way to help us out. that goes for all the small businesses in town, it seems only when they close down everyone says “oh but it was such a lovely place!” Lovely places need your custom, not just your admiration!”
Anyone with information about the stolen Jellycat items is encouraged to contact the police.
