Three more community projects have been awarded a total of £6,800 in funding in the latest round of South Kesteven District Council’s Community Fund.
Two villages will have improved amenities and a horse therapy charity will be able to install a new accessible, safe, and weatherproof yurt shelter to extend its work.
Cllr Annie Mason, Cabinet member for People and Safer Communities said: “We are really proud to have been able to help so many varied projects during 2021 and look forward to doing the same next year.
“Please make it a New Year resolution to apply for a grant in our next funding round and make a real difference to your community. We particularly welcome applications from groups working to help ease social isolation and improve mental health and wellbeing in the community.”
Kirkby Underwood Parish Council will receive almost £2,000 to install three recycled park benches.
The benches will help with issues of loneliness and isolation at tranquil locations, enhancing residents’ physical and mental health and wellbeing. A recent local questionnaire highlighted the need for benches as the village previously had none.
A bespoke half circular seat is to be installed around a large tree on Caythorpe’s Village Hall Green thanks to a grant agreed for Fulbeck Village Hall and Playing Field Committee.
The £920 grant towards a total cost of £1,140 will fund a seat acting as a meeting point at the centre of the village and meet requests from residents for somewhere to sit.
Foxdale Equine Assisted Learning at Oasby will soon have an insulated yurt and stove thanks to a £3,880 grant towards the cost.
The yurt will host Foxdale’s new indoor nature based and therapy-related activities, provide a warm and friendly place to shelter and meet up and extend Foxdale’s season into the winter.
Organisations applying to SKDC’s Community Fund for projects over £2,000 can request up to 80% of the total costs, to a maximum of £5,000. The other 20% must be contributed from elsewhere, of which 10% can be from ‘in-kind’ volunteering or materials.
The council also offers a small grants scheme for up to 100% of project costs to a maximum grant of £2,000.
The next funding round closes for applications on 21 January 2022. For further information please contact communityfund@southkesteven.gov.uk
