A photography pupil from Ambergate Sports College is selling a calendar of her best work.
Rhiannon, aged 15, attends the school on Dysart Road, and created the 12-month 2023 calendar as part of her Photography Qualification.
Creating a photography enterprise is part of her coursework for the year, and showcasing as many photos as possible was important to Rhiannon. She said:
“I decided to choose the calendar because it can display lots of the photos we have taken. Also, it is a good time as the New Year is coming so hopefully people will choose us for their yearly calendar! There is something for everyone.”
Photography Lead at Ambergate, Mrs Whitbread, said she was so proud of Rhiannon for creating the calendar:
“This calendar really has been a lot of work for Rhiannon. She had to research the best products, work out costings, prices and carry out market research. Then she had to search through a number of photos that she took last year and work out where they would fit best.”
“Rhiannon worked hard to find her best ‘wow’ photos because she wanted to create a quality product and she has done just that. Seeing how excited she was when they arrived from the printer made all the hard work worthwhile. I am so very proud of her!”
The photos in the calendar were either taken by Rhiannon herself or taken during her other class lessons last year. She also took some exclusive photos just for the calendar, and they can be found on the February and October pages. The photos come from the pupils’ topics over the year, including flowers, light, small world figures, ink and water and Halloween.
Rhiannon still has a few of the calendars left to sell, and would love to reach her enterprise target before Christmas. Each one costs £8 and all the profits will be available for Rhiannon to spend within the Photography department. Mrs Whitbread explained:
“As part of the enterprise, Rhiannon gets to spend the funds on whatever she would like to buy the department. This could be anything from a new camera to additional props for certain topics, new equipment or backdrops – the choice is hers! Once the items have been purchased, all the photography pupils will get the benefit of using them.”
Rhiannon added: “I would love to sell all the calendars before Christmas so I can put as much as possible back into the photography department and do really well in my enterprise coursework!”
Calendars can be ordered by emailing katie.bennington@ganf-cit.co.uk or they can be collected from Ambergate Sports College on Dysart Road, Grantham.
