Following the launch of a new Community Rehabilitation Service, Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) is holding two online engagement events to ensure services continue to enable people with mental ill health to live well in their community.
The Community Rehabilitation Service works to support those with long-term mental health problems who have been in hospital for a length of time. Service users receive increased on-going support with their day-to-day lives, enabling the building of skills and confidence, helping to improve relationships and support networks.
Heather Barr, Service Manager for Community Rehabilitation Services at LPFT said: “The new community rehab service is initially in Lincoln and Gainsborough, but with an ambition to extend to other parts of the county. We have a strong emphasis on hope and a belief that people with severe mental illness can regain a meaningful life, despite persistent symptoms. Recovery is about looking beyond societal and self-imposed limits to help people achieve their own goals, aspirations and dreams.
“Our staff will help people to live as independently as possible in the community and their own home and to manage their mental health effectively. Recovery from a severe mental health illness is possible, and the new community rehabilitation service will ensure that people are supported through the change.”
With the introduction of this new service, the Trust is taking the opportunity to reflect on its wide range of mental health rehabilitation services, from inpatient care through to community support.
The Trust continues to welcome the feedback of service users, carers, stakeholders, charities and health and social professionals in its efforts to continually develop and improve services.
As part of this, LPFT will be hosting two virtual rehabilitation transformation engagement events on 12 and 13 October. The events invite the views and feedback of anyone who is connected to mental health rehabilitation services; whether they have cared for someone in rehabilitation, have an interest in NHS mental health community care, or have personal lived experience.
