Families are being encouraged to do their bit to help keep their communities litter-free.
South Kesteven District Council can supply equipment including refuse bags and hi-vis vests free of charge for community litter-picks.
Oscar (9) and Rosalind Moseley (4) showed the way by deciding to carry out a litter-pick in their home village of Rippingale and filled a bag through their efforts.
Their father, SKDC’s Cabinet Member for Commercial and Operations, Cllr Dr Peter Moseley, said: “We have already seen some fantastic community efforts by families that clearly care deeply about the areas in which they live that have set a tremendous example to others.
“SKDC’s highly-successful Big Clean project was set up to achieve a higher street standard that consistently exceeds national standards.
“There will, however, always be areas we can’t get to as often as we would like, so community involvement like this is very welcome. We are always happy to support litter pickers right across the district like this public-spirited family and their team by providing high-vis vests, picking tools and refuse sacks.”
Cllr Dr Moseley said it was important for youngsters to be involved.
“I hope they can grow up with an understanding of how important it is to keep our streets clean and take care of our planet,” he said.
