The Lincolnshire Sport & Physical Activity Awards 2020 have launched today.
The annual awards, organised by Active Lincolnshire, are ordinarily a chance to celebrate Sport and Physical Activity successes across Lincolnshire, recognising excellence in competition, personal achievements and positive life changes. For 2020, in response to the unprecedented impact Covid-19 has had on everyday life, the theme of the awards will be a community celebration. Donna Sutton from Active Lincolnshire commented:
“Although lockdown and social distancing meant that sporting and physical activity events, clubs and sessions were unable to take place in the same way this year we know that many individuals and organisations in Lincolnshire have leapt into action to inspire, motivate and encourage people to stay or start being active, whether that was virtually or in a socially distanced context.
Sports Clubs, volunteers and individuals have also been giving up their own time to support the most vulnerable in their local communities, as well as fundraise through physical challenges. We felt it was important to recognise these endeavours and say thank you to the unsung heroes of the sport and physical activity sector who have had such a positive impact on people’s health and wellbeing during this challenging time.”
A virtual awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 12th November 2020.
