October 7, 2024 by Grantham Matters Leave a Comment

The Macmillan Cancer Psychology Service Lincolnshire team have been shortlisted for the Integration Excellence Award in this year’s Macmillan Professionals Excellence Awards.

Developed in partnership with Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT), Macmillan and the East Midlands Cancer Alliance, the service aims to improve quality of living of adults living with, and beyond, cancer through a series of fully personalised therapy sessions.

The Macmillan Professionals Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate the work of exceptional Macmillan Professionals and teams who have gone above and beyond expectations to support people living with cancer.

Commenting on the team’s accomplishment, Dr Jennifer Carty, Clinical Lead for Macmillan Cancer Psychology Service Lincolnshire said:

“I am incredibly proud of the team and everyone involved in receiving this remarkable nomination. From 98 nominations to 20 shortlisted individuals and teams, this highlights their hard work, determination and commitment that has gone into the service. As a team we work with patients, families, carers and other professionals to identify and address any challenges in coping with cancer. We help support people in Lincolnshire with complex psychological needs as a result of their cancer diagnosis.”

The team has been recognised for the work they have done to collaborate across the Lincolnshire system. This includes primary, secondary care, hospices, Macmillan and the East Midlands Cancer Alliance network to enhance the patient journey.

The impact of the psychology service on patients has been profoundly positive, with patients expressing their gratitude for the emotional support and understanding the team has provided, which has been instrumental in helping them navigate the complexities of their cancer, treatment and end of life care.

Their therapeutic interventions have also enhanced emotional wellbeing of their patients, ensuring they feel understood, validated and empowered to navigate their cancer journey.

The awards ceremony will take place in Wales on Thursday 7 November.
