Members and volunteers of the Grantham group of Re-Engage – a charity for people aged 75 and over who live alone and find it difficult to get out and about – enjoyed a Christmas meal and party in the warm atmosphere of Kesteven Rugby Club on Friday (13 December).
Organiser Tamzin Keenlyside transformed the Woodnook clubhouse to create a memorable Christmas feast that ended with festive party games and gifts.
Seven Re-engage members plus their volunteer drivers attended the festive social, with Kesteven Rugby welcoming each one into the club’s family.
“Loneliness across all age groups is on the rise,” says Tamzin Keenlyside, who plays rugby for Kesteven Ladies, and volunteers for the rugby club and Re-Engage.
“For people who are older and might find it more difficult to get about – especially at this time of year – charities like Re-Engage and sports clubs like Kesteven Rugby can make a real difference.
“It was our absolute privilege to welcome Re-Engage members to Woodnook and are very grateful to local businesses like Moy Park, who donated the chicken, and Grantham Marks & Spencer’s, who donated other food items,” says Tamzin.
