Michelle says…
At about two o clock on High Street and surrounding areas as a dog lover I was shocked at four owners of dogs walking the side of the high street in the boiling sun. Not even in the shade.
Dogs shouldn’t be out when it is this hot. So trying to retain my anger at the situation, I walked by a lady with a collie dog, The dog wanted to sit down in a shop doorway, it was being dragged a long as obviously the lady wanted to pursue the walk, not really taking any notice of the dog.
I expected abuse tbh so was waiting for this.
I said the dog didn’t look well, obviously desperate for shade. I said would you mind bringing him to the alleyway I have some water for it.
As I was stood directly in front of her, she had no choice. I guided the dog to the alleyway, and opened up a bottle of water.
He opened his mouth and guzzled all of it. I said to the lady you have shoes on right, so look at your dogs paws which were cracked, I said feel the floor it was hot. I said this is why dogs shouldn’t be out.
I gave her another bottle of water and she said thank you surprisingly for not being nasty. I said I wasn’t a nasty person, but some owners can be if approached. I suggested once home cover him in wet towels with a fan.
Then off I went. I was surprised how it went actually, but pleased she didn’t give me abuse. I stayed with her a while until the dog looked a bit more observant.
Please please keep dogs at home…
