Lottery players can enjoy some historical crafts for free this week, as a thank you for supporting the Historic Environment Skills (HES) project.
Run by the county council, Lincoln Cathedral and Heritage Lincolnshire, the HES project aims to encourage more young people to pursue careers in the traditional built heritage sector.
The project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and as part of the lottery’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the team is offering lottery players the opportunity to take part in two free workshops:
- “Come & Carve: Stone carving workshops” on Tuesday 26 November, 10am – 1pm & 1.30 – 3.30pm
- “Hidden Treasures: Stone carving tour” on Wednesday 27 November, 10 – 11am & 2 – 3pm
Both workshops take place at the Heritage Skills Centre at Lincoln Castle.
Lizzie Whittington, Historic Environment Skills Project Coordinator, said: “We wanted to say a big thank you to lottery players for supporting the HES project.
“Our trainees help care for our historic environment, from castles and great halls to cob walls and cottages, and it’s National Lottery players who make it all possible!
“This is a chance to see first-hand some of the good work being carried out thanks to your backing.
“All you need to do to take part in the events is bring a National Lottery ticket with you.”
One National Lottery ticket provides free entry for one visitor per event. There are limited spaces offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
All National Lottery games qualify for free entry, including tickets from any National Lottery draw based game or National Lottery scratchcard. Both paper and digital tickets are accepted.
